As I pen my first message to you, the 10-year treasury bond broke 1.5% for the first time in a year. Are we returning to a “normal” market?
In 1954 the OMBA was formed "To actively stay involved with industry-related legislative matters and assist legislators in understanding the needs and problems confronting the real estate finance industry today." That simple mission, now expanded to include education and connection, guides the work of the volunteers who serve for and are members of the OMBA. Your newly elected board and the committee chairs are working hard to fulfil this mission.
The 2021 Legislative session is well underway. We are watching several important housing related bills this session including the elimination of the Mortgage Interest Deduction bill HB2838 (state.or.us) and HB2578 (state.or.us) and the anti-foreclosure legislation HB2009 (state.or.us). We expect hearings to start on this one the first week of March. You can follow the committee’s work here.

The board voted in February to enter an alliance with NAMMBA which is a national trade association dedicated to the enrichment and betterment of minorities and women who work in the mortgage industry at the local, state, and national level. We look forward to our collective work to broaden our workforce, over time.
