The OMBA Legislative Committee met on Friday, February 20, to review developments in the 2026 short session.

February 20 also marked the deadline for remaining policy bills to receive floor votes and be assigned to committees in the opposite chamber (House bills to the Senate and Senate bills to the House). Measures that remain active will now continue their legislative process in the second chamber.

The OMBA Legislative Committee continues to monitor activity in the final days of the 2026 short legislative session. As lawmakers work toward adjournment, several housing-related measures remain active.

The OMBA Legislative Committee met on Friday, February 13, to review developments in the 2026 short session. 

Yesterday, February 16, marked the first major policy committee deadline. Measures that advanced will move out of committees to floor votes and then be assigned to the opposite chamber (House bills to the Senate and Senate bills to the House) for further committee review, discussion, and potential amendments.

One of OMBA’s core responsibilities is representing the industry in ways that preserve, protect, and promote a healthy real estate lending environment for Oregon consumers and all parties transacting within the state. To support this mission, OMBA contracts annually with Markee & Associates for professional lobbying services and maintains a fully volunteer Legislative Committee.

The Legislative Committee works closely with Markee & Associates, reports to the OMBA Board, and acts on behalf of the membership to review proposed legislation and determine whether OMBA should support, remain neutral on, or oppose specific measures. The committee currently consists of nearly 15 volunteers with diverse lending backgrounds, providing well-rounded and informed representation.
