Patients in the CAPU range in age from 5 to 17, male and female. They arrive at the unit in a state of crisis, often with little or no support system to ensure their basic needs are supplied.  Here is a list of items that would be greatly appreciated:



  • Playing cards
  • Board games
  • Sand molds
  • Legos
  • Dolls
  • Playmobile playsets
  • Bristle Blocks
  • Play-doh
  • Jigsaw puzzles of all sizes
  • Barbies
  • Blocks
  • Puppet sets
  • Card games (e.g. Sleeping Queens, Sushi Go, Exploding Kittens, Bears vs. Babies, etc.)


Electronics sticking to light hearted themes:

  • DVDs
  • Books on CD
  • Books – all ages, fantasy fiction is a good universal genre
  • Coloring books
  • CDs
  • iTunes gift cards for music, video, or game downloads


Art Supplies including:

  • Paint, water-based
  • Construction paper
  • Paper for painting
  • Modeling clay
  • Snap-together models (can’t require tools)
  • Glue and tape
  • Glitter and other decorations
  • Markers and crayons



  • Socks
  • Underwear
  • Tops
  • Pants/shorts
  • Jackets, sweatshirts or light jackets-no drawstrings
  • Shoes-slip on or Velcro-no tie laces



Playground Equiptment:

  • balls including – foam, rubber, basketballs, soccer balls, etc.
  • Cooking utensils, equipment and supplies (flour, sugar, baking soda, baking power, confectioner’s sugar, food coloring, etc. for cookies – a popular tool/lesson)
